Summer is right around the corner, and we bet you are looking forward to a comfortable ride in your car with the air conditioning on. However, what if you notice warm air blowing out instead of cold air after turning on your vehicle's A/C? This is situation that far too many people experience, and it can be a frustrating experience, especially on a hot day. There can be several reasons why your car's A/C is blowing warm air.

Here are some of the most common causes of warm A/C:

Low Refrigerant

Refrigerant is the substance that cools the air in your car's A/C system. If the refrigerant level is low, it can cause warm air to blow out of the vents. You can check the refrigerant level using a pressure gauge, but it's best to have a professional mechanic do this for you. If the refrigerant level is low, they will be able to recharge the system with the correct amount of refrigerant.

Faulty Compressor

The compressor is the heart of your car's A/C system, and if it fails, warm air can be blown out of the vents. Signs of a faulty compressor can include strange noises or leaks. If you suspect that your compressor is failing, it's important to have it checked by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.

Clogged or Dirty Condenser

The condenser is accountable for discharging heat from the A/C system. If the condenser becomes clogged or dirty, it can prevent the A/C from blowing cold air. The condenser can become clogged with debris such as leaves or dirt, so it's important to keep it clean. You can do this by gently washing it with a hose, but be careful not to bend or damage the fins.

Faulty Cooling Fans

The cooling fans in your car are responsible for keeping the condenser cool. If they are not working properly, the A/C system can become overheated and stop working. You can check the fans by turning on the A/C and looking under the hood to see if the fans are spinning. If they are not, it's best to have a mechanic check them out.

If your car's A/C is blowing warm air, it's important to have it checked out by a professional mechanic. Be sure to have your A/C system checked annually by a professional mechanic to keep it running smoothly through the warmer months of the year.
